Urinalysis
Wilmington Mental Health urinalysis plays a key role in helping individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our urinalysis services are part of a broader commitment to holistic, evidence-based treatment that respects your privacy while supporting your progress.
What is Urinalysis?
Urinalysis is a laboratory test used to detect the presence of drugs, alcohol, and their metabolites in the urine. It is an essential diagnostic and monitoring tool used in:
- Substance Use Disorder Treatment
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
- Court-ordered or probation compliance
- Ongoing recovery support
How Urinalysis Supports Treatment Planning
We do not use drug screening as a form of punishment or judgement. Instead, it is a clinical tool that helps guide and improve your care.
Establishing a Baseline
When clients first enter treatment, an urinalysis helps identify the substances that are currently in their system. This baseline informs your diagnosis, risk assessment, and the initial level of care needed.
Monitoring Progress
Regular urinalysis provides objective data to track abstinence, identify relapses early, and measure adherence to treatment or prescribed medications (e.g., Suboxone or Vivitrol).
Adjusting the Treatment Plan
If a test result indicates a return to substance use, your care team can respond immediately by modifying your therapy, increasing support, or addressing potential triggers. This allows for a personalized, responsive care rather than a “one-size-fits-all” approach.
Building Accountability and Trust
For many clients, regular urinalysis testing becomes a motivational tool, reinforcing their goals and providing clear, nonjudgemental feedback. For clients in mandated programs, it also documents the compliance for courts, probation officers, or social services agencies.
Confidential. Compassionate. Professional.
We recognize the importance of dignity and discretion in every step of the testing process. Our staff is trained to provide a respectful, nonjudgemental environment for all clients whether you are voluntarily seeking support or fulfilling a legal or program requirement.
