About Dr. Perry Stanley
Dr. Perry G. Stanley has been practicing counseling psychology for over 30 years in West Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina.
A specialist in marriage and family counseling, Dr. Stanley has worked successfully with hundreds of couples and family over in the span of his career.
Adhering to a person-centered approach to counseling, Dr. Stanley listens carefully to the client's concerns and issues before working with the client to identify treatment goals and developing a therapy plan.
In addition to traditional counseling, Dr. Stanley utilizes clinical hypnosis to alleviate pain and maximize comfort for those with chronic pain. He treats a range of conditions including gastrointestinal issues, sleep disturbances, and fibromyalgia.
He works with cancer patients as well as those who are preparing for a medical procedure.

Background
A Clinical Fellow and designated Approved Supervisor with the American Association with Marriage and Family Therapy, Dr. Stanley has served on the faculty of the Western Pennsylvania Family Center in Pittsburgh. In addition, he has taught marriage and family therapy to graduate students at West Virginia University, and supervised, trained, and consulted with scores of therapists and psychologists. Having attained certification in clinical hypnosis with the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, Dr. Stanley has specialized in teaching self-hypnosis for the management of chronic pain and other chronic physical and psychological conditions. Having recently relocated to Wilmington, Dr. Stanley lives with his wife of 30 years, a second marriage for each of them. They both have four children and three grandchildren.
