ASSESSMENTS
Intimate Partner Violence
At WMH, we recognize the critical importance of assessing and addressing intimate partner violence (IPV)
with the utmost care and sensitivity. Our comprehensive IPV assessment and personalized treatment plants
aim to identify and support individuals who may be experiencing abuse within their relationships.
Our Approach
We provide a safe and confidential environment where individuals can share their experiences openly
without judgment. Our team of professionals is trained to handle IPV cases with empathy, compassion, and
a deep understanding of the complex dynamics involved. Our IPV assessment involves a thorough and
comprehensive evaluation of the individual's situation. We utilize validated assessment tools, conduct
in-depth interviews, and consider multiple factors such as physical, emotional, and sexual abuse,
coercive control, and power imbalances within the relationship.
Safety Assessment
Ensuring immediate safety is our top priority. We assess the level of danger and develop safety plans
tailored to each individual's specific circumstances. These plans may involve strategies to navigate
potential risks, secure protective orders, or access emergency shelter and support services.
Psychological Assessment
We recognize the emotional and psychological impact of IPV. Our assessment includes evaluating the
individual's mental health, trauma symptoms, and any other psychological consequences resulting from the
abusive relationship. This helps us develop appropriate intervention strategies and connect individuals
with specialized counseling services.
Collaborative Approach
We work collaboratively with other professionals involved in the individual's care, including legal
advocates, social workers, and law enforcement, to ensure a coordinated response. We have provided
primary care and psychiatric care at our facility, which allows for an integrated expedited process to
providing comprehensive support.
Referrals and Support
We understand that addressing IPV requires a comprehensive support system. Our team can connect
individuals with community resources, such as shelters, our counseling services, legal assistance, and
support groups. We also provide ongoing support throughout the assessment process and beyond, ensuring
individuals have access to the help they need.
